Short Code Provisioning
Procuring a short code is a complicated process. The wireless carriers have differing requirements of considerable information before approving and provisioning a code. Fortunately there are options.
If you have an immediate messaging need of less than two months or a budget that will not support typical dedicated code costs of up to $1500 a month, then take advantage of our various shared codes.
If you want a dedicated code, we have an experienced team that handles securing, provisioning, and managing the eight week carrier approval process. The code is leased in your name and we simply pass through associated costs. Already reserved your code at usshortcodes.com? No problem...we will help you add OTAir as a delegate on your NeuStar account, and we will handle the process from there.
OTAir utilizes SAP's Sybase 365 for SMS aggregation services with wireless carriers. After extensive initial and periodic reviews regularly validating Sybase 365's stability, scalability and 24/7 support , we continue to believe Sybase 365 is the best option for handling our clients' traffic.
Please note that we only provision and service short codes in the United States and Canada. For coverage in other countries, please check out our Long Code Management solution.
Also note that OTAir does NOT support PSMS or Premium SMS programs that bill a non-standard fee to the mobile user, such as $0.99 or $1.99. We also do not support non-profit donations via text as the carriers have opted to work with only a few non-profit based SMS solution providers for such services and we recommend you contact The Mobile Giving Foundation.

The access to such numbers by systems, such as OTAir's, for strictly SMS business communications is relatively new. Using a 10-digit long code versus a 5 or 6 digit short code offers a number of benefits...chief among those being significantly lower cost, greater messaging flexibility and faster speed to market. Be honest...how many times have you almost made a purchase at a store only to put it back as you remembered having a coupon at home, at work or in the car? Use of paper coupons is not only environmentally unfriendly, but a problem for many consumers that results in loss sales. Put your coupons in your customers' pockets, not their mailboxes. Then they have it with them at all times, can easily redeem and, if you care to permit, might even share with their family and friends leading to even more sales. Read more...
